Black Red White Blue Green Yellow/Gold

This set of colours can be used to tell the story of the ‘Gospel’ using a Wordless Book. For those not familiar with this I will share its’ story with you. When teaching children to use it, I use coloured cardboard, but I have seen beads used instead and made into bracelets.

I put books together in this order: first black, then red, white, blue, green and yellow gold. It is a very effective way for them to share their faith. I teach them to begin by showing someone the yellow gold page and saying “This colour represents heaven; do you want to go to heaven?” They then turn the book over to the black page and say, “Black represents sin, do you think God allows sin into heaven?” Then, turning to the red page they say, “Red reminds us of the blood of Jesus shed for our sins.” Turning to the white page they follow this by saying “When we accept what Jesus did for us - our sins are washed away and we become clean in God’s sight.” Then they turn to the blue page and say “Blue represents the waters of baptism.” They then turn to the green page and say “Green speaks of new life and growth. As we pray and read the Bible we grow in our walk with Him.” Turning back to the yellow gold page they then say, “And that is the story of how we get to heaven!”

This is a simple but effective way of sharing the Gospel. If you are reading this and are not assured in your heart that you will go to heaven when you die, you may like to pray and accept what Jesus did on the cross of Calvary for you. Following is a short example of a prayer if you need help.

Dear Father in Heaven,

I realize that I have never come before you to acknowledge that I have sinned; and I need to accept the sacrifice of Jesus death on the cross for me. Please forgive me for all my sin, and help me to live a life that brings glory to you. Help me to grow in my relationship with you by reading your Word – the Bible, and praying every day.

Amen

If you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:9-10

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
